As a screen test for her, she refused to do an impromptu one and took one day to get ready. In the following days, she was cast in three films by Yash Raj Films. She was the wife of a young man of an older man in the film (the exact same character that Shah Rukh Khan played). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. In 2010 Anushka Sharma starred in the film "Badmash Co' alongside Shahid Kapoor Shahid Kapoor, Vir Das as well as Meiyang Chang. The movie received mixed reviews. Anushka was also seen alongside Ranveer in the film "Band Baaja Baaraat' in which she played the role of a Punjabi middle class girl who set up her own company. It received favorable reviews and proved to be an overnight success. Anushka had completed the contract for three films in partnership with Yash Raj Films.
